2013 Year In Review with Pictures

2013 was another big year for Dim. We sold three of the Corrosion Maintained pieces, made a slough of new stencil work, killed it at three festivals, crushed a car, did some commissions, and more. Here is a recap with some photos. Give it a minute for the page to load. There are a ton of pictures.

January

Corrosion Maintained Series at Hair Lounge - Bedtime story show @ SSCA The year started off with bang as the Corrosion Maintained Series was on display at Hair Lounge in Uptown December through January. We got a lot of people stopping in to the shop just to look at the art work. It was great. Later in the month, Ivy and Charles had a couple pieces they were working on in The Story Time Group Show at SSCA.

Art-A-Whirl @ Turbo Tim's and Grain Belt We set up shop at Turbo Tim's for the second year in a row at Art-A-Whirl. It was pretty damn awesome. Our latest set of stencil pieces went over really really well. We also had an amazing turn out and had a huge draw for when Tim crushed a car with his "Loaner Car"... We also had some work up at the Grain Belt Bottling show.

Red Hot Art Festival and MPLS Zine We spent most of July making new stencil pieces to showcase at Red Hot Art. We also contributed another installment of the "Drips" comic to MPLS Zine Social Issue.

August

Powderhorn Art Festival We got into the annual art festival at Powderhorn Park this year. We were selling stencil pieces pretty well, but we were showcasing the Corrosion Maintained series mostly without much attention. Then on the second day, we sold "Revenge" and pretty much the rest of our prints. It was awesome.

September

Painting the Birthmarks We unleashed some raw creative explosive force banging out a whole new twelve piece installment to our collaborative abstract series. It was a lot of long weekends, some yelling, and lots of beer and enjoying the late summer air.

Second, we had another great time at Raging Art On at Gamut Gallery in downtown. RAO is 2 floors of "uncurated artwork" over 3 days with DJs and a ton of our peers. It was an awesome experience and we even sold a couple things. It was a good way to wrap up the year.

So What Is In Store for 2014?

Dim has a lot planned for 2014. The second installment of our Blue Flame illustrated short story is off to the printers. We're going to be doing Spring Con, Grain Belt, and crushing more cars at Turbo's again for Art-A-Whirl. We have a show next weekend at Abstracted Gallery with the likes of Ryan Henry Ward and Joe Aschebrock. A show at Gamut Gallery with Rogue Citizen is in the works. Expect more festivals, the launch of our webcomic, brand new art, and more crazy antics. This is the year we all quit our day jobs and become broke ass artists full time.
